ANGRY Oxford City fans blasted the decision to abandon last night's FA Cup replay at Wycombe Wanderers.

Keith Jempson, of Sandford Lane, Kennington, said: "I think it is disgusting. Why didn't they wait until the fire brigade dealt with the fire and had the penalties afterwards?

"It was not anything to do with the ground. The stand is full of concrete, and they could have waited for ten minutes. We have been robbed.

"I think they will have to have a replay now, but it is unfair on City. They had a chance of winning with the penalties, and now they have got to have another match."

Ali Ducker, of Hayward Road, Cutteslowe, said: "They didn't tell us why we had to evacuate. No-one was telling us where to go. It was badly handled.

"I would like an apology for the way it has been handled and free entry to the next game.

"We didn't want to evacuate because there was too big a crush and not enough exits. We didn't know why we had to move." And Hollie Hayward, of Valentia Road, Headington, added: "We are really brassed off and not very impressed with the way Wycombe handled it. It is appalling organisation."

Leslie Newell, from Abingdon, said: "It is a disgrace. If it had happened after five minutes, they would not have abandoned it. They could have put us in the stands.

"I think it could have been done more sensibly."

REFEREE Paul Danson praised the players after last night's abandoned Cup tie.

"I was impressed how understanding the players were," he said. "I honestly don't know what will happen now about the tie.

"I'll wait for their decision. In something as serious as this, public safety is always a priority."
