Oxford City 2 , Wealdstone 1
OXFORD City manager Paul Lee's gamble to rest some of his FA Cup battlers paid off last night.
With Tuesday's first round replay at the Manor in mind, he made four changes to the side that drew with Wycombe on Tuesday.
But two second-half goals from Richard Peirson and Tate Hulbert got City's Ryman Division 1 campaign back on track, although they had to suffer a few nervous minutes as Wealdstone pulled one back in the 88th minute through Carl Holmes.
The first half was a scrappy affair with neither side really pressing.
The best two chances came when new boy Carl Bartley hit the post in the second minute for City and, at the other end, Alan Foster made a great save to deny Holmes.
But after the break, Peirson put City ahead in the 68th minute from Shaun Wimble's cross and Hulbert wrapped it up from Terry Morrisey's long cross in the 80th minute.
Oxford City: Foster, Morrisey, Dark, Peirson, Thorp (Rose 45), Sweeney, Smith, Emsden, Bartley (Hulbert 69), Davy (Potter 75), Wimble.
Referee: G Horwood (Luton)
