Two workers were taken to hospital suffering from burns after a chemical was spilled in the loading bay of a DIY store.
The incident happened yesterday at Homebase, in Horspath Driftway, Cowley, Oxford.
It took fire crews seven hours to contain the spill of 220 litres of the corrosive chemical Fenotex FX.
Firemen used special granules to soak up the spill. The incident was over by 6.15pm.
A spokesman for Oxfordshire Fire Service said: "Two workers came into contact with the chemical and were taken to hospital.
"It was fortunate the incident didn't happen at the front of the store, otherwise we could have been dealing with a major incident."
The spokesman added: "Our officers wore special protection suits because this was a dangerous chemical."
