A post office branch in Oxford city centre has closed, writes Andrew Ffrench.
A post office counter has been open at Littlewoods in the Clarendon centre, off Cornmarket Street for the past six years.
But Post Office Counters has now agreed to close it, due to dwindling trade.
The two members of staff who ran the branch are being given jobs at the main city centre branch in St Aldate's. There is now just one other city centre post office, in St Giles. Post Office Counters spokesman Paul Diggens said: "When the post office shut in St Michael's Street about six years ago, we agreed to open a new branch in Littlewoods.
"Originally, the Littlewoods branch was due to close in February but we have agreed to go earlier because they are changing their store layout.
"Trade was dwindling quite a lot. We have no plans at present to open up a third office in the city centre.
"The St Aldate's office has had quite a lot of work done to improve the service for customers."
