A father and son organising a Millennium Ball for 400 revellers want to point out that their event has NOT been cancelled.
Adrian and Jason Wyatt, who are holding the event at the Oxford Harlequins Rugby Club in Marston Ferry Road, Oxford, have been plagued by calls since a similar event was called off.
A huge Millennium party in North Hinksey has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales. But many people with tickets for the Wyatts' party think it is their event that is no longer taking place.
Jason, 30, said: "I have had up to 20 calls since the other party was called off. People are
asking about refunds. I want to get the message across that our event is very much on." The other problem facing Adrian and Jason is that enquiries about tickets have also dried up since the Hinksey cancellation.
Adrian, 63, of Bullstake Close, Oxford, said: "I'm sure that many people are now simply assuming that our event is not taking place."
So far, half the £50 tickets available have been sold. The event, starting at 8.30pm on December 31, features a large disco show featuring Steppin-Out, a huge marquee, an evening buffet and a bar. There will also be a collection on the night for the new children's ward at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, where Adrian is a security supervisor.
