There were smiles all round when the rain stopped and the sun began shining for the Princess Royal.
The Princess arrived by helicopter to visit Home Farm Trust residential home for people with learning disabilities at Milton Heights, near Didcot. She is the trust's patron.
Before walking through the organic garden to admire the winter vegetables the residents had grown, the Princess visited a specially adapted house to meet Eleanor Miles, one of the residents.
The Princess then went on to the craft room where she was shown the computer equipment and the Out and About CDs designed to meet the specific needs of the residents. The Princess congratulated the many volunteers and fundraisers who made this possible.
She said: "What is going on here is a classic example of how things are evolving to meet today's changes."
Harry Wyatt, chairman of Oxfordshire County Council, was equally impressed with the high standard of care that the residents were receiving.
He said: "The visit by the Princess Royal is recognising the good work that all of those associated with the Home Farm Trust carry out."
