Oxford Utd Res 1, Bristol Rov Res 1 STEVE Davis made a successful comeback for Oxford United Res, who had victory snatched from their grasp in a well-contested Avon Insurance Combination game at the Manor last night.
The central defender, given his first run out since recovering from a pelvic injury, played for 65 minutes without any ill effects before being taken off to avoid the risk of injury.
With Mark Watson on duty for Canada, Davis could take his place in the side to face Wycombe on Saturday.
United also gave trials to Kerwin Jemmott, a midfielder who has played for Trinidad and Tobago, and Mosiah Blake, an 18-year-old fullback from Birmingham, both of whom showed some neat touches.
Steve Anthrobus put Oxford ahead eight minutes into the second half, flicking in a cross from Chris Hackett and, even after the departure of Davis and Jon Shepheard, United contained a strong Bristol Rovers side. But a momentary lapse of concentration in the last minute let in Nathan Ellington for Rovers' equaliser.
