Staff at an Oxford betting shop were in fear of their lives when they were held up by a raider believed to be armed.
During the robbery at Ladbrokes in Barns Road, Cowley, on Saturday, the man demanded money and grabbed cash from the till before running off.
A police spokesman said: "A lone man entered the betting shop holding a bag as if he had a gun. However, no firearms were seen."
The robber was black, 5ft 8in to 5ft 11in tall and of slim build.
He was wearing a dark Barbour-type jacket and a woolly hat, and was carrying a bag.
Detectives have appealed for witnesses to call Oxford CID on 01865 266000 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
