NIGEL Russell made it an A team debut to savour when he came up against Dutch star Roland Scholton in Oxfordshire's latest Inter-County Championship match against Leicestershire at Berinsfield at the weekend.
Russell took the game to five legs, producing 17 tons, with Scholton clinching the last leg in 17 darts to seal the verdict 3-2, helping the visitors to a 20-16 victory overall.
Jim Allen won 3-1 on his 150th game for Oxfordshire, but he couldn't prevent the men's B going down 8-4, Ian Jarvis taking man of the match.
The women's B drew 3-3, Trina Blackman winning lady of the match, which meant Oxon went into Sunday trailing 11-7.
The Oxon women's A side also drew 3-3, Babs Manning lady of the match, while the men's A drew 6-6, Joe Palmer taking the man of the match award for his 27.27 average.
Oxon's next game is away to Nottinghamshire on March 4-5.
