Businesses, residents, councillors, reporters and even local bed-and-breakfast owners turned out in force for the launch of Abingdon's official internet site.
Set up by Abingdon's Joint Economic Forum, the new website is set to revolutionise the way things are run in the town.
Carlton TV newsreader, Wesley Smith, launched the site with a countdown at the Guildhall on Monday.
Website designer, Stephen Duck, of Didcot, put the finishing touches to the site in time for the launch.
The site aims to be a comprehensive information directory and tourist guide, detailing everything you ever need to know about historic Abingdon. Although still in its early stages, the site could eventually include all the latest town council news, a directory of clubs and societies, daily weather updates, cafe and restaurant reviews, local news and sports and a business directory.
Website visitors will be able to offer feedback on the site design and ask for other information to be included in future. For tourists, a virtual tour of the town's historic buildings is also being developed, starting with the old county hall in Market Place.
It is hoped local businesses and community groups will make the most of the site, by advertising their events and helping to put the town on the map.
The Mayor of Abingdon, Lesley Legge, who co-ordinated the launch, said: "Everyone was rushing to have a go at the launch. It's very exciting news for Abingdon."
