A new leisure park is set to cost 20,000 above budget and may be completed late.
Bicester Town Council announced in February it would build a 180,000 BMX and skateboarding park at The Garth, Launton Road. But the skateboarding park alone is now going to cost it 200,000.
At a special meeting, lone Labour councillor Les Sibley accused the Tory administration of dropping plans for a BMX track because of the rising costs.
But council leader Cllr Norman Bolster said it was always going to be a "multi-purpose facility" for skateboarders, in-line skaters and BMX riders. He said: "There were some unforeseen problems, like having to re-route a gas main which is going to cost 8,000."
The park should open in August, but Cllr Bolster said there could be further delays.
