Ollie Varney may be approaching the veteran stage but he proved he has few equals in the county as he beat Buckie 3-0 in Premier Section leaders Railway Social Club D's win over ODDA Section 1 rivals Plough Inn, Sutton Courtney.

He started the match with six consecutive 60s for two 180s and went on to win 3-0.

The home side took the opening game when Cookson (180) beat Bill Martin.

But the Premier side hit back for a 5-1 lead with wins from Malcolm Elliott (180), Bob Pollard (180), Brian Lemke (180), Ron Parker (180) and Varney. The Railway went on to win the match 6-3 despite losing the pairs 2-1. Quarry Gate A stay in second place with a convincing 6-3 win at Littlemore British Legion.

Nelson Inn B have made a brilliant start to the season as they crushed Section 3 rivals Democrats Club 7-2 to record their sixth straight win.

The Nelson raced into a 5-0 lead with wins from A Stimpson, A Panes, C Joy, L Richards (180) and R Pape (180). Democrats stopped the slide when Dave Butler beat Dave Hopkins 3-0, but Nelson went on to win the pairs 2-1.

George Saloon moved clear ahead in Section 4 when they beat Nelson Inn A 7-2.
