Teams from Oxfordshire were in the points as Michael Schumacher swept to his fifth win of the season in the Canadian Grand Prix at Montreal.

Giancarlo Fisichella took another podium place for the Enstone-based Benetton team alongside the Ferrari pairing of Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello.

Jos Verstappen, in the Leafield-built Orange Arrows, also drove brilliantly to fight his way to fifth place.

Benetton managing director Flavio Briatore said: "The team did an excellent job and used an excellent strategy. Finishing behind the Ferraris and in front of the McLarens is more than we could have hoped for after qualifying so, of course, we are very happy." Alexander Wurz, in the second Benetton, finished ninth.

The result pushed the west Oxfordshire team into third place in the constructors' championship, three points ahead of the Grove-based BMW Williams team which had a tough day in Montreal.

Ralf Schumacher's race ended in retirement due to Jacques Villeneuve's daring manoeuvre, which sent both cars off the track at the hairpin on lap 65.

After starting from 18th position and struggling at the back of the field, Jenson Button finished in 11th place.
