Oxford Brookes student Joe Porter missed out on a maiden first-class century for the British Universities against Zimbabwe at Fenner's yesterday.
Unbeaten on 90 following the first day, Porter added only three more to his overnight total before mistiming a pull off Gary Brent and sending a catch to mid-off. The students promptly declared then at 261-8.
In reply, Zimbabwe reached 196-2 with Stuart Carlisle (60no) and Craig Wishart (58no) in good form.
Wishart's innings included three straight driven sixes.
There were three delays for rain, costing 26 overs, before a further downpour washed out play for the day.
