Despite the dubious delights of walking six miles through rural lanes or, better still, being stuck in three hours-plus tailbacks in sub-tropical sunshine, Gatecrasher lived up to and exceeded all expectations, says Lazarus T.

With six arenas simultaneously offering a rich spectrum of contemporary dance music, where you ended up was a question of personal choice. But two of the lesser subscribed arenas, Hardnation and Metalheadz, arguably had the more innovative sounds and spinners, with Oxford's own James Lavelle serving up a scorching set of granite-hard heavyweights.

For a brief time, Gatecrasher's Summer Soundsystem was home to one nation under a groove.
