Belle Vue Aces 40, Oxford Cheetahs 50
JT/Fox Oxford Cheetahs picked up their first away victory of the season in an Elite League match which nearly didn't take place at all.
Cheetahs almost pulled out of the fixture when they were told that Belle Vue were using Paul Bentley at No 6, in place of John Jorgensen who has left the Aces camp.
Bentley has to high an average to take that position and Cheetahs promoter Vanessa Purchase was told that she was within her rights to pull out of the meeting unless Belle Vue used another rider, which they were refusing to do.
Belle Vue promoter John Perrin shut the gates while a decision was made. However, Cheetahs decided to ride under protest for the good of the sport and the fans, a large band of which had travelled up from Oxford.
When the racing got under way, Cheetahs put their stamp on the match from heat one.
