Hollywood actress Kathleen Turner topped the bill among celebrity guests at last night's star-studded Henley Ball.
The movie star, who has been appearing in The Graduate in London's West End, joined a host of film and television personalities at the glittering function.
The annual ball, which took place on the town's Fawley Meadows, is one of the top film industry events of the year and heralds the start of the Henley Royal Regatta. Highlights included a champagne reception, river cruises on the Thames, entertainment from jugglers and fire-eaters, jazz and a casino. The 110 tickets helped raise about 100,000 for the charity NCH Action for Children.
Charity spokesman Amelia Lyons said: "It has been wonderful to have such a well-known celebrity as Kathleen Turner. We are really fortunate to get her along and we are very pleased." She added: "We are a well established charity and do lots of work with children and young people across the country. A lot of celebrities have children themselves and, although they have had privileged upbringings, they realise there are others who are not so fortunate."
