A mother has complained to her local superstore because she claims a chocolate promotion sent out the wrong message on child safety.
She has protested to Abingdon police, the NSPCC, Baby Milk Action, the promoting company Nestle and the HQ of the store that backed it, Tesco.
The promotion for Nestle product Rolo outside Abingdon Tesco angered Sam Newman, who lives in Halse Water, Didcot.
"It broke all the rules," she said.
"I teach my children not to take anything from strangers as a matter of child safety, yet here Nestle and Tesco were undermining those rules by having people offer children sweets.
"My children do eat chocolate, but at my time and location.
"And just before Sunday lunch, where I did not have the time and facilities for cleaning them up, is not the right time or place.
Mrs Newman has told Tesco: "I was very angry this happened to me.
"The decision for this promotion would have been commercial and you should be ashamed." She is urging the company to put any profit it made to the NSPCC Full Stop campaign and the Abingdon National Childbirth trust.
"I think Tesco made a mistake please don't profit by it."
A spokesman at Tesco's Waltham Cross HQ said Mrs Newman's letter and the points in it would be carefully considered.
