Oxford University students are taking part in a scheme to help South African schools without electricity, telephones or textbooks.
They will spend their summer vacation visiting primary schools in rural areas of Kwazulu-Natal and Cape Province and have each had to raise 1,500 to cover their costs.
The trip is being organised by the charity Africa Link, which is carrying out a four-year project to give South African schools money for more resources if they raise money by holding events involving their local communities.
