Thame, who won last year's Oxon Cup by losing fewer wickets in a tied final, bowed out of this year's competition in identical fashion last night.

By extraordinary co-incidence, the opponents in both instances were Bicester and North Oxford, who now go through to the quarter-finals of the Bernard Tollett Oxfordshire Cup after a high scoring contest. An unbeaten third-wicket century stand between Graham Savin and skipper Darryl Woods enabled Bicester to reach 141-2 from their 20 overs.

Rob Brooks led Thame's reply with a spectacular 90, but they finished the day on 141-7 and thus lose their hold on the cup.
