A football club boss has pulled the plug on Saturday night discos because of constant vandalism and complaints from the public about rowdiness.
Brian Constable, chairman of Witney Town FC, blamed noisy, drunken under-age youths for the trouble.
He said: "I threatened six months ago that if things did not improve, I would close it. Enough is enough. We are now going more upmarket. I am fed up with the vandalism. People have complained about kids and under-age drinking. We have worked with the police and we even caught a lad dealing in drugs. Recently a grandmother said her two granddaughters were in the club and they were under age. They had used false IDs to get in. "We've had complaints from parish and town councils. The yobs disturb the residents of Deer Park estate as they go home. We don't want that sort of image."
The club, at Downs Road, Curbridge, is spending 25,000 on refurbishments after shelling out thousands of pounds in the past six months on repairs.
