Schoolgirls have been alerted after a classmate was struck down with meningitis.
The sixth former at Oxford's Headington School, who recently took her A-levels, was hit by the bug while in Amsterdam.
Her friends were immediately given antibiotics and parents of other pupils were all contacted with the news, even though the girl had left school on Friday.
The 18-year-old, who lives in Rome, is making a good recovery and is unlikely to suffer any long-term ill-effects.
