Tandem duo Sara Dean and Howard Waller set a new national record in their 25-mile time trial on the A34.
The Oxford City mixed duo stopped the clock at 49 mins 8 secs, eclipsing the 12-year-old national record by 30 seconds.
The time trial was the culmination of nearly two years preparation for the pair.
Dean lies 13th in the national women's road race series, and Waller has turned from rowing to gain his third-category road race licence in his first season.
This is the first time that riders from the local area have broken such a record.
