Cyclist Rob Dabreo, who is pedalling around the world for charity, had a narrow escape when he was chased by a grizzly bear.
Rob, 34, of Oxford Road, Cowley, set off on his mammoth trip last month.
He explained: "I was in Yukon, Canada, cycling along, when this grizzly appeared at the side of the road. I rode on a little way and then stopped to take a photo.
"Unfortunately, I must have startled him and he began chasing me. I stepped on the pedals and got a bit of speed up and managed to get away. "My adrenalin was going and for the next 20 minutes I was expecting more bears on the roadside."
Rob hopes to raise thousands of pounds for Oxfam America. Now in Alaska, he will travel across the Bering Straits to Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, France and then back to the UK.
Sponsors can contact Rob, who expects to complete his global cycling trip in spring next year, via his website www.theironhorse.org
