Pubs in Oxford say they are losing out on trade because they cannot show important sporting events screened on a Sky channel.
The satellite television company has been blasted because its pub clients do not have access to Sky Sports Extra.
This means football fans drinking in pubs are missing out on seeing key games, such as the recent Leeds v Munich 1860 match. And some regulars are opting to stay at home to watch matches.
The landlord of The Fairview Inn in Headington, Glyn Millard, feels cheated.
He said: "I pay just under 250 a month so that I can have have Sky in the pub but I feel that I am being penalised for playing by the book.
"I would be given a massive fine if I didn't pay the commercial rate because I have my TV in the bar, but the service we get is second-rate. It's ridiculous and it makes me really angry. Something needs to be done.
"They can't tell me that it's not physically possible to screen those matches through a different channel."
Sky spokesman Robert Fraser said Sky Sports Extra had been developed for the domestic market because it was an interactive channel which allowed the viewer to request instant re-plays of key moments and up-dated statistics.
He said: "We are listening to what our customers are saying and evaluating the situation."
