Traffic was disrupted for nearly two hours when a bus became stuck

A parked car in the narrow Park Street in Charlbury meant the 6.30am Worths service to Oxford was unable to get through the town.

Charlbury beat officer Pc Simon Towers said: "The car was parked legally. Because it was a lease vehicle it took a couple to hours to track down the driver, who lives in the town.

"Although Park Street is narrow, buses can get through there, on this occasion something went wrong and the bus driver could not go forwards or backwards without risking damage to the car."

Charlbury resident Ray Marshall said: "It is time that action is taken to make sure the roads are kept clear to enable public transport to pass through the town without interruption.

"The road, which is a main one, was virtually closed for almost two hours and caused disruption in the town centre."
