A village library under threat of closure two years ago is now set to expand.
An action group is celebrating a new lease of life for the Wychwood Library in High Street, Shipton-under- Wychwood.
A book sale which raised 960 has seen the Friends of Wychwood Library reach their target of 35,000 to pay for an extension.
Work will start next April and be finished by the summer, doubling the size of the library and allowing space for computers and a video-link with West Oxfordshire District Council's offices in Witney.
Friends chairman Douglas Cunningham said: "It is a wonderful move forward. To think that only two years ago we were among 30 small libraries in Oxfordshire threatened with closure.
"More than 200 people attended a protest meeting and since then we have explored ways of keeping and developing our library."
Fundraising projects have raised more than 11,000 for the expansion, to add to grants from county, district and parish councils.
The library has 5,000 books and serves the Wychwoods, Leafield and surrounding villages.
Opening hours will be unchanged.
