Oxford's second player development rugby league camp has been hailed a success by coaches from Super League outfit Halifax Bluesox.
Twenty nominated under 13 boys from Oxford undertook a three-day residential course at the Hill End campus to receive training in all the skills and were put through their paces by several qualified coaches. They also received expert advice on nutrition, fitness and sports psychology.
Camp organisers Caro Wild and Matt Thomas were delighted with the players' progress.
"A number of the lads probably got a bit of a shock over the three days with the level of hard work and concentration we expected from them. It is fair to say that most of the players will never have been expected to work that hard before in their lives."
One player in particular who impressed was Oxford Cavaliers junior Niall Har, who received the 'Top Gun' award as the best player on the camp.
The camp is supported by Sport England and Oxford City Council.
