Calls were made today for a top-level probe into how serial sex attacker Paul Robson was allowed out of prison to attack again.
The pervert and convicted paedophile was jailed for life yesterday after he carried out a sickening attack on a woman in her home just weeks after he was sent to Oxford's Abingdon Road bail hostel.
Now residents living near the hostel have demanded an inquiry into how a man with a long list of convictions could so easily attack again. They are backed by ward councillor Deborah Glass, who said: "There has to be an inquiry into why legislation allows people like this into the community when it was clear he did not want to be helped.
"I know serious sex offenders have to be placed somewhere when they are released, but you have to question if a residential area is the right place.
"My understanding is that it was simply the bail hostel's turn to take a sex offender and that's how he ended up here. He was on a very strict curfew but still managed to slip through the net. The call was backed by Robson's mother Rosemary, who said: "Something has to be done about that hostel. It's too close to a park, schools and a swimming pool to be safe."
