HEADINGTON Road Runners' Club 5K on Saturday morning produced one of the highest quality women's races over this distance ever seen in Oxfordshire with four runners inside 18.30.
Guest Kelly Wilder, from Oxford University, was a comfortable winner in 18.03, but only eight seconds covered the next three places.
In the men's race, Steve Whitelam from the University, held off Paul Northrop, of Headington, to win in 16.38.
Men's result: 1 S Whitelam (Oxford Univ) 16.38, 2 P Northrop (HRR) 16.53, 3 N Smith (Oxford Univ) 17.52, 4 G Chapman (HRR) 18.10.
Women's result: 1 K Wilder (Oxford Univ) 18.03, 2 Kirstie Anderson (HRR) 18.21, 3 Allison Hirst (HRR) 18.24, 4 K LaFrance (HRR) 18.29.
