Residents are being asked for their views on plans to change the electoral boundaries of north Oxfordshire.

They are being invited to comment on a report from the Local Government Commission which proposes that the Cherwell district should be divided into 30 wards. The wards would be represented by 50 district councillors two fewer than at present.

The review is being carried out to ensure that fast-growing areas like Bicester are given equal representation around the council table. Banbury would lose two councillors, dropping from 18 to 16, but Bicester would gain 5 from six to 11. The rural areas including Kidlington and larger villages would have 23 councillors.

The suggestions include creating two new wards in Bicester Bicester north and Bicester town to add to the existing Bicester wards of East, West and South.

Detailed information is available at the council's offices in: Bridge Street, Banbury; Exeter Hall, Kidlington; and Market Square, Bicester. The deadline for comments is September 22. For more information, call 01295 252535.
