Thame Utd 4, Wealdstone 0 MARK West hit a sparkling hat-trick as Thame United turned on the style to open their account in Ryman League Division 1 at Windmill Stadium last night.
With centre back Mark Avery having to go off injured after just five minutes, Thame took time to settle.
And it was slightly against the run of play that they took the lead when Chris Fontaine intercepted a pass in his own penalty area, played the ball to Nando Perna's pinpoint pass found West and he cut in from the left to beat Wealdstone keeper Darren Watts with a right-foot shot.
West struck again in the 23rd minute, heading home Martin Brown's knock back from Justin Merritt's tremendous far post cross.
Wayne Cort, twice, and Brown went close before Thame made it 3-0 on the stroke of half time. Justin Lee's free kick to the far post was again headed back by Brown and Cort made no mistake, heading home from close range.
Thame had to wait until the 67th minute to increase their lead when Perna's splendid right foot pass found West, who completed his hat-trick in great style from 16 yards.
Thame Utd: Moores, G Williams, Potter, Brown, A Williams, Avery (Lee 5), Merritt, West, Cort (Mitchell), Perna, Fontaine (Concannon).
