Oxford City triple jumper Michelle Johansen produced a lifetime best while competing for Oxfordshire in the South of England Inter-Counties Championships at the Barnet Copthall Stadium, Hendon.
She recorded a mark of 11.50m with her opening jump which kept her in pole position until the final round where she was overhauled by junior international Angela Williams, of Kent.
It left her with a second-place finish to add to her earlier sixth place in the 100m final.
The meeting was split into two sections under 20s and under 15s and all 19 counties in the region were represented.
Johansen, an under 17, produced the highlight of a series of excellent performances from the Oxfordshire's under 20 girls' team. Almost every one of the ten-girl team gained points towards a place as second best in the age group.
Caroline Smith finished second in the pole vault after once again having a titanic battle with the same girl who took the Southern title in May, Laura Patterson. They both cleared three metres with Patterson winning on countback.
Frances Briscoe secured a third runners-up place for Oxon in the 1500m. The only one brave enough to go with Lisa Dobriskey, of Kent, she stuck to her task well as the all-the-way leader smashed the championship record.
Jenny Truelove gained a brace of third places. The Banbury Harrier firstly lowering her best in a close 100m hurdles race, and then going straight over to the long jump and picking up third place with her last jump.
Rachel Brenton became the second Oxfordshire under 17 to take on the older girls and she also gained a third place with a clearance of 1.65m in the high jump.
Natalie Plateau ran only her second and third 400m races and took fourth place in the final.
This was repeated by Rachel Sutton in the 200m, Carly Austin in the 400m hurdles and Gemma Avil in the shot. Natalie Cooke also played her part in a high-class 800m race.
The under 20 boys section saw outstanding performances from Peter Fisher, who took second place in the high jump. David Stowell also ran well in the 200m, finishing fourth in the final, recording a pb of 22.42.
In the under 15 age group, Lauren Hawkins-Taylor made both finals of the 100m and 200m, taking seventh place in both. Lisa Newport came sixth in the final of the 800m and Jo Rhodes posted a personal best when seventh in the 1500m.
In the field, Lucy Sutton came fifth in the shot and there were good performances from Sam Molyneux and Danielle Perry.
The pick of the under 15 boys was Brendon Fisher in the 400m, while Chris Gillespie recorded a pb in the 1500m.
