Another disappointing Elite League defeat for JT/Fox Oxford Cheetahs at home to Peterborough has left promoter Steve Purchase pondering his future once again, writes Leon Hill.

Purchase said: "I have been in charge for three seasons now and we have struggled at the bottom of the league every time.

"The common factor in all three seasons is that I have been promoter, and it seems pretty obvious to me that a change must be made at the top if Cheetahs are going to challenge for honours in future."

Does this mean that this is to be another winter of discontent for Cheetahs fans? Some actions seem to suggest totally the opposite, after all would a promoter thinking about his future shell out money on a new signing just eight weeks before the end of the season?

Purchase wants some answers to halt Cheetahs' decline and has made an appeal on the Internet asking for fans to share their views of how to move speedway forward again not the sign of someone about to quit.

What we could see is massive team changes for next season, but after the fans rallied round so successfully with the SOS (Save Our Speedway) campaign last winter, this could just prove another page in Oxford's most chequered history.

Purchase added: "We should have won against Peterborough as we had a full team and they were using rider replacement. Jimmy (Nilsen) and Johno (Steve Johnson) didn't like the conditions, while Ales and Lukas (Dryml) didn't really turn up".

Brian Andersen certainly cannot be criticised after a horrendous first-heat fall which many thought would see him pull out of the meeting.
