Oxford City are chasing Carterton Town's new recruit Scott Taylor after the RAF man shone in a recent friendly between the two clubs, writes Russell Smith.
Taylor, who has played in the Dr Martens League Premier Division with Cambridge City and Grantham Town, joined Carterton in the summer after moving to RAF Brize Norton.
City manager Paul Lee said: "He played against us and was very impressive. He could sign in time for Saturday if we can agree terms."
Meanwhile, City have injury doubts about Danny Wise (knee) and Jemaine Ferreira (ankle) for tomorrow's trip to Harlow Town in Division 1. On Monday, City entertain Staines Town.
Central defender Mark Avery is a fitness worry for Thame United as they take on Bognor Regis in Division 1 at Windmill Stadium tomorrow.
In any case, Avery, who has an ankle injury, is unavailable for Thame's local derby at Aylesbury United on Monday.
Meanwhile, Thame joint manager Andy Sinnott was singing the praises of Mark West following his hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Wealdstone on Tuesday.
"His finishing was just different class," said Sinnott. "He had three opportunities and got himself a hat-trick, which is the quality of the player."
Abingdon Town look set to be without midfielder Darren Watts for a lengthy spell as he recovers from problems associated with a foot infection.
Manager Bob Rayner will also be without Gary Atkins and John Gardner for the Division 3 clash with Flackwell Heath at Culham Road tomorrow.
However, Town's boss is hopeful that striker Ben Williams will have recovered from an ankle injury as Abingdon bid to bounce back from Tuesday's 4-0 thrashing by Corinthian Casuals.
