A man with a fake gun caused a major security scare in Oxford, writes Emma Henry.
Police were called to a bus in Summertown, at 3.30pm on Wednesday, after reports from a Stagecoach bus controller that a company driver claimed to have seen a man with a gun on board his bus.
Two plainclothes officers boarded the bus, which was stationary in Banbury Road, and arrested a 43-year-old passenger who was sitting with what appeared to be a gun on his lap. He was taken to St Aldate's police station, but later released on police bail, on the condition he reports to Wallingford Community Hospital.
A police spokesman said: "It was very obvious it was a fake gun."
Between 15 and 20 passengers were on the bus at the time of the incident.
