Shelley Arms A took a giant step towards the Morrells ODDA Ladies Section 2 title when they saw off Cricketers Arms A 5-4 in a close tussle.
Shelley took a 3-1 lead thanks to Carol Plumstead, Karen Lang and Smith before Cricketers hit back to level at 3-3. A 2-1 pairs success keeps Shelley well clear of second-placed Cherwell Club, who won 6-3 at Cowley Workers.
Section 3 leaders Nuffield Arms beat Three Horseshoes thanks to singles wins from Mavis Hook, Cann, Place and Palmer, plus a 2-1 pairs victory.
Garsington Social Club stay in second place despite a 5-4 defeat at Butchers Arms. Section 6's top-of-the-table clash saw leaders Rover SC beat Kidlington SC 5-4 with singles victories from from T Taylor, Earl, A Taylor and Sue Lofthouse, which gives them a four-point cushion at the top.
Queens Arms (Section 7) hit their best form of the season when seeing off White Hart 8-1.
Jolly Postboys kept their title hopes alive as they defeated Section 9 rivals Somerset House 6-3 thanks to victories from Kitching, Kear, Gregory and Simms.
