Aylesbury Utd 1, Thame Utd 2
Thame completed a Ryman League Division 1 Bank Holiday double after coming out on top in this local derby at Aylesbury yesterday.
It was Thame's first league visit to Buckingham Road and it didn't take them long to settle as Mark Jones brought a save out of home keeper Jamie Courtnage.
Courtnage was then beaten in the 14th minute when Nando Perna's 35-yard free kick cannoned back of the crossbar and Greg Williams headed into the top corner.
And Thame could have increased their lead when Martin Brown headed wide from Jones' pinpoint free kick.
Aylesbury got back in the game in the 26th minute when hesitation at the heart of the Thame defence gave Scott Honeyball the chance to fire past the helpless Ian Moores from six yards.
In the second half, Thame went close when Andy Williams's cross was narrowly missed by Wayne Cort.
But their winner came on the hour. Brown was checked on the edge of the home penalty area by a cynical foul and Perna's curling free kick left the keeper rooted to his line.
Aylesbury seemed to lose heart and Perna could have rounded off a perfect day in the 86th minute after skipping through the home rearguard only for his touch to let him down when he seemed certain to score.
Moores, G Williams, Jones, Brown (Mitchell 80), A Williams, Smith, Merritt, West, Cort, Perna (Concannon 87), Fontaine (Lee 78).
