After the excitement of the county finals, held over the last four weeks, it was back to business for the Oxfordshire BA with a series of friendlies at Swindon, Leominster, and Northampton.
Against Wiltshire, at Swindon BC, Oxon went down 120-93. Shiplake's David Bullock received his full county badge, and clubmate Peter Christmas his colts badge for his first game for the county.
The top rink for Oxfordshire was skipped by former president Harold Winstone, with Jim Ludlow, Jim Trinder, and Mick Collison in good support in a 21-15 victory. Two days later, Oxon saw off Herefordshire 130-108 at Leominster, Henry Franklin, Jim Barnes, Tony Wright and Roger Bunce leading the way with a 24-13 win. Len Tooley (Witney Mills) and Philip Buckett (Stuarts) received colts badges.
Oxfordshire then travelled to Kingsthorpe BC, Northampton, and again ran out winners, 147-84.The top Oxon rink was Gordon Gerry, Keith Clayton, Jim Goatham, and Mervyn Gleeson, who won 29-11.
