Horse & Harrows and Masons Arms are this season's Morrells Oxford & District Summer League champions after securing the required points in their final matches.
But both sides were made to fight all the way as their opponents refused to give in gracefully.
Horse & Harrow were in a state of shock in Division 1 when hosts Royal Standard won the opening two games through Alan Lacey (4,830) and Kevin Godfrey (7,580).
Paul Lawson (4,300) won a close third game to make it 2-1 and then sat back to watch teammate Dennis Atkins (12,440) bring it back to 2-2 to secure the title. The pairs games were shared. In Section 2, Masons travelled to Democrats and skipper Dave Rose (6,490) put the visitors 1-0 up.
Demos fought back through Eddie Tebby (4,610) and Sid Barrett (13,610) to make it 2-1 and for once, the fortunes stayed with Martin Wood (3,410) as he brought it back to 2-2.
The scene was now set for both sides in the pairs, with Demos needing to win both for the title and Masons only one.
Masons duly obliged by nervously taking the first thanks to Rose and Alan Lowe (2,170) to seal the crown.
