Residents of an Oxford community are promising big things for their carnival this year, with an It's A Knockout contest as one of the highlights Alison Bartlett.
Seven thousand gallons of water will be available for the event at Fettiplace recreation ground at Barton, Headington, today. Six teams are due to battle it out.
Carnival organiser Paul Isaacs said: "We have never had It's A Knockout before. I think it is going to be very different and a lot of fun. It is going to be a huge carnival this year."
The carnival starts at 1pm and lasts until 5pm. Oxford Philomusica Orchestra will be holding workshops on writing revolting rhymes and banging dangerous drums. This year's carnival queen Kayleigh O'Leary, ten, will parade with her attendants Anneka Sohrabian, nine, and Hayley Miller, eight.
Magic Circus is hosting workshops for youngsters and basketball shoot-outs will also keep energetic youngsters busy.
