Rover Oxford Ladies kicked off their season with a friendly 7-0 victory against Guildford.
Constant pressure led to four goals from Vicky Mankelow, two from new girl, 15-year-old Marie Hayden, and one from Suzanne Williams.
It was a promising start for manager and acting coach Bob Phillips, who is looking after the team following the retirement of Simon Smith after four successful years at the helm.
In partnership with his wife Katie as captain, Smith brought the team from the lower end of South League Division 2 to the top end of Division 1 and to the play-offs for the National League.
Katie is still playing, but after five years as captain she has passed the mantle to former Irish Under 21 international Lorraine Furney.
Rover are still looking for a coach and players, and anyone interested should contact Bob Phillips on 01865 736592.
