Thame Utd 0, Carterton Tn 0 (aet)
Carterton won 3-1 on pens
Carterton Town produced a major FA Cup shock by dumping out Ryman League Division 1 high-fliers Thame United in a dramatic penalty shoot-out at Windmill Stadium last night.
The Cherry Red Records Hellenic League outfit matched their more illustrious opponents in all departments in the preliminary round replay.
And after neither side had been able to break the deadlock after 90 minutes and extra time, it was Carterton who showed the greater nerve in the spot-kick shoot-out.
Goalkeeper Jake Eggby made two tremendous saves from the vastly-experienced Mark West and Nando Perna. And with Tristan Didcock, James Whitrod and Phil Rodney, playing against one of his former clubs, beating Ian Moores from the spot, Carterton grabbed their moment of glory.
Now they can look forward to a home tie against St Leonards or Three Bridges in the first qualifying round on Saturday, September 16.
Thame joint boss Andy Sinnott said: "They thoroughly deserved it and we have no complaints about the result."
