Radley Ladies' A team took on two of Southern League Division 1's top teams in the season's final match at Tilsley Park on Saturday to finish in second place - ahead of the mighty Windsor, Slough & Eton, writes Jon Murray.
This means that they will finish in fourth place overall in this prestigious division. They have proved themselves to be one of the best teams in the south of England.
Two personal bests were achieved - by Tracy Galbraith in the senior 1500m with a time of 4 mins 52.5 secs and Jess Gilley in the senior discus with a throw of 23.24m. Caroline Smith came a creditable third in the pole vault.
Veteran Veronica Boden, in her first 400m hurdles race for several years, ran a remarkable 67.8 to finish third. She then ran the 800m in 2.36.2, followed by the 400m in 62.5.
She was also part of the 4x400 relay quartet who ran a season's best time of 4.16.5, thanks to 15-year-old Natalie Plateau who ran a storming last leg to bring the team home in second place.
**Match result: 1 Aldershot 212 pts, 2 Radley 193, 3 Windsor, Slough & Eton 182, 4 Bedford 138, 5 Enfield 124.
