German visitors Stephanie Schoenhof and Susanne Spieker (pictured on the homepage) were among many visitors to a colourful street fair.
Cottages historic and modern lining Church Street, Appleford, provided a backcloth for the event, which was held to raise money for the church heating fund.
Bell ringers marked the start of the fair in the tiny church of St Peter and St Paul, where the parochial church council hopes to replace the out-of-date heating system before the winter.
Former churchwarden Chris Owen said: "Part of the proceeds of the fair should complete the estimated 6,000 it will cost to install new wall-mounted electric heating."
The original electric heating system was installed 40 years ago, but for the past two years parishioners have had to shiver or use portable heating.
