Oxfordshire's newest nature haven gets its official opening on Sunday (September 10) after being converted from an orchard.
Kingston Bagpuize Millennium Green is one of 250 spaces created as part of a Countryside Agency initiative. Birds and other wildlife are already establishing homes at the Kingston Bagpuize site, which is to be opened by Countryside Agency officer Kate Ashbrook.
The nine-acre site has been created by local nature lovers, using money from Lottery funds. Visitors can enjoy a new wildlife pond on the green which sits alongside more than 2.000 trees and shrubs.
It is hoped the rare Great Crested Newt will inhabit the area now work is complete.
Ms Ashbrook said: "People need a breathing space on their doorstep and this new green combines opportunities for public enjoyment and relaxation with protection of wildlife."
