Telly favourite Michael Barrymore proved it was "awight" at the Oxford Union when he fielded questions from students.
Fresh from his double success at the National TV Awards, Barrymore admitted beforehand: "I don't know what we're going to talk about - I've got no preconceptions."
Ebullient Barrymore even appeared a little embarrassed as he was handed a gown and mortar board to pose for photographers last night.
The comic arrived half an hour late - but at least he turned up. Shadow Home Secretary Ann Widdecombe, under fire over her tough plans to crack down on cannabis, has pulled out of tonight's debate because she has flu.
The Earl of Onslow is replacing her on the motion "This House has no confidence in Her Majesty's Government."
