Bookshop Blackwell's has launched a new Internet website to sell textbooks to Students.

The group, based in Oxford, has invested 10m in the venture, Headfiller.com, including 1m on marketing for the launch.

Headfiller offers discounts or up to 30 per cent, credits on future purchases and allows students to sell their books back at the end of the academic term. Books will be delivered within 24 hours, says Blackwell's.

Students who register have the chance to win one of three 3,000 holidays.

Eventually, Headfiller will develop digital coursepacks, so that lecturers can select articles or chapters from books to be read.

Customers will eventually have the option of picking up their books from one of Blackwell's 70 shops, which also act as collection points for second-hand books.

Blackwell's has recruited 100 students to act as "brand managers", distributing promotional material and encouraging others to use the site.
