WALLINGFORD Rowing Club were the only local club to hit silverware in the 230 crew Pairs Head on a rainswept Tideway.
Lightweight Helen Casey paired up with Jane Hall, one of her world championship crewmates last August, and, in spite of their weight disadvantage, the duo won the women's open double sculls.
They did so with a 13-second winning margin over a Wallingford and Nottingham County combination, with Lulu Butler-Stoney the Wallingford connection.
Wallingford's Colin Cusack and Sean Morris won the men's veteran handicap coxless pairs.
KAYAKISTS from Oxford's Falcon Canoe Club stormed to a convincing win over strong crews form all over the south east at the Reading K4 races.
Falcon's crew was captained by Rod Kinch, and also featured Peter MacFarlain, Will Turner and Roy Farrington. Their winning time was 45mins 41secs.
