Oxfordshire star Tim Henman finally broke his final jinx and immediately set his sights on taking his next title.

The British No 1 was in unstoppable form as he beat Germany's Tommy Haas 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to win the CA Trophy in Vienna yesterday.

The victory ended a run of seven consecutive finals in which 26-year-old Henman has finished runner-up. Now he insists the result has given him more confidence for the Swiss indoor tournament in Basle, which starts next week.

I'm delighted to have won another title, but now I'm even more eager to win in Basle, my next tournament, said Henman.

Obviously, making it to the Tennis Masters Cup in Lisbon is my main goal. My position in the Champions Race will not change, but I'll close the gap.

I couldn't have been happier with the way I played, he added. There weren't many things in my game that weren't working. It's very satisfying not to lose your serve in a best-of-five-sets match.

He broke just once in each set to put paid to Olympic silver medallist Haas and end his streak he was runner-up at Doha, Rotterdam, Queen's and Basle in 1999, and Rotterdam, Scottsdale and Cincinnati this year.

The number of finals that I've lost has been well documented, but I never had any doubts that I would win again. I'm delighted to have won another title, Henman added.

Haas admitted he was second best in the match. I tried everything I could, but he still won, said the German.
